What is a Lip Lift?

Elongation of the upper lip occurs with age. This facial feature contributes to the aging appearance and can be bothersome to individuals. A lip lift excises a small amount of the upper lip skin immediately below the nose. Sometimes additional skin is excised from small incisions around the corner of the mouth. The incisions are hidden in the curvature of the bottom of the nose and sometimes that lateral lip, and typically heals to a scar that is imperceptible. After the procedure the upper lip is shortened, and the red lip is unfurled so that the red portion of the lip appears larger.

Dr. Namin’s Philosophy

The lip lift is an excellent procedure, particularly when done along with a facelift and other procedures aimed at rejuvenating the appearance of the face. It helps provide a more balanced result across the entire face. Lip lifts have also become very popular amongst young individuals, and individuals who have received lip filler treatments for many years.

Lip Lift Postoperative Recovery

Recovery after lip lift is typically a straightforward and easy recovery. The incision will be slightly red for the first week, and then this typically fades quickly. There is usually not much bruising or swelling. It is important to avoid pulling down on the lip during recovery to avoid tension on the incision. The sutures are removed between days 3-5.
